After a run of indie releases and growing buzz in the Atlanta music scene, Shawn Mullins broke through when Soul’s Core (1998) launched him to national fame with the Grammy‑nominated No. 1 hit “Lullaby.” He followed it with the AAA/Americana No. 1 “Beautiful Wreck” from 2006’s 9th Ward Pickin’ Parlor. His song “Shimmer” promoted the 2000 Sydney Summer Olympics and appeared on the Dawson’s Creek soundtrack. He co‑wrote “All in My Head” for 2008’s Honeydew, which debuted in the first episode of Scrubs, and he co‑wrote the Zac Brown Band’s No. 1 country hit “Toes.”

In 2002, he teamed up with Matthew Sweet and Pete Droge to form the supergroup The Thorns, whose track “No Blue Sky” has become a modern classic. To mark the 20th anniversary of Soul’s Core, Shawn revisited the album with Soul’s Core Revival, recording two new versions: one featuring stripped‑down solo performances on guitar, piano, and even a cappella, and another featuring full‑band arrangements with Soul Carnival.
